We've been invited for dinner and this is the gift I made up for our hosts : a basket of teas and tea cans, and a "commode of cards". I used some of SU!'s printed paper for the wrapping and details ... very colourful!

During last week's workshop, we made this set of 10 x 10 cm cards with some SU! DSP papers that I just love! The cards themselves are super-simple, but once the whole thing is put together and gift-wrapped, it makes a nice little gift.
Aujourd'hui je vous montre une carte un peu plus masculine ... C'est une carte récup' (j'ai adoré la carte de France à l'ancienne -- je ne pouvais pas la mettre à la poubelle), combinée avec des fioritures faites avec le Big Shot (of course!). Le die s'appelle Elegant Flourishes de Tim Holtz. Le reste vient de Stampin' Up! sauf le cardstock de base (Artchoum.fr).
Today I'm showing you another card suitable for a man. It's a recyled New Year's card, but I just loved the old style map of France -- couldn't bear to throw it out! I've combined it with some Big Shot swirls (Elegant Flourishes from Tim Holtz). All the rest of the comes from SU except the base cardstock, which is from Artchoum.fr.

When I ordered the Big Shot, I also chose the "tattered florals" die from Tim Holtz. Put the fabric on the die, sandwich it between the two cutting plates and give the handle a quick turn to have 4 pretty fabric flower shapes handed to you "on a platter". I had fun making these 2 birthday cards this week-end with my new toy!

Just one more reason to love the house in the country ... Near the end of October, we were having lunch on the terrace with friends when this pretty pheasant came strutting by. As luck would have it, my camera was handy! One of the shots has been made into a birthday card for Alan, who was lunching with us that day.

I'm sure even those who don't speak a word of French can understand this little play on words on the frame that Jessica made for her dad's birthday. Over the photo, Jessica hung 3 little tags on a piece of linen string. Each tag has one word written on it, to read "a perfect pair". For the text at the bottom, she printed it onto a piece of cardstock, then cut the letters out individually and glued them "helter-skelter" to read "a perfect père". That's m'girl!
Bonjour ! Enfin, me voici de retour sur mon blog. Le mois de décembre est un long enchainement de marchés de Noël, ateliers de calligraphie dans des collèges (classes de 6° et 5°) et ... bien sûr ... les préparatifs pour Noël. (Oui, l'association Pleins & Déliés peut animer des ateliers d'introduction à la calligraphie dans les collèges, souvent dans le cadre des "escapades collégiennes".)
Il y a parfois de longs moments d'attente aux marchés de Noël, donc je m'occupe avec la confection de cartes. Celles qui sont photographiées ci-dessus ne sont pas des chefs d'oeuvre, car sur les marchés je travaille avec un stricte minimum de matériel. Par contre, j'étais très satisfaite de la tenue de l'encre "Distress" sur le papier photo (tout le papier blanc sur les cartes est du papier photo, celui qui est parfois livré avec les cartouches d'encre pour l'imprimante).
Il reste onze jours avant Noël ... et seulement quatre avant mon anniversaire géant :( Courage !
Hello! Finally, I've found 5 minutes to add a note to this blog. December is a hairy month, with Christmas markets, calligraphy workshops in Junior High Schools and ... of course ... getting ready for Christmas.
The time is sometimes long at Christmas markets, so I use it to make cards. The ones that are shown above are not works of art, as I take very few supplies with me. However, I was quite satisfied with the Distress ink on photo paper (all the white paper on the cards is photo paper, that was included in the package with my printer's ink cartridges).
Only 11 days 'til Christmas (and only 4 left to go before that awful, big b-day). Sniff! Take a deep breath and .... go get 'em!
Ces couleurs vives ne sont pas typiquement "mmj", mais j'aime beaucoup le papier du fond de chez Artchoum. Je ne me souviens pas du nom -- ce sont de jolis papiers que l'on ponce pour faire ressortir le relief. Bref, il y a assez peu de créativité dans cette carte car tout est dans les fleurs en papier et les brillants auto-collants. Ah oui, et deux maleureuses lettres calligraphiées !!
En ce moment je cours beaucoup entre la vente des calendriers (faites-moi signe si vous en voulez) et l'association des parents d'élèves. Je serai à la Grande Castelette en Avignon demain et puis aux Mains de Femmes à Toulon ce week-end, donc passez me voir si vous êtes dans le coin. A bientôt !
These loud colours aren't usual for me, but I so liked the red textured paper, that I had to find a way to use it! The paper comes from Artchoum, but I don't remember what the brand name is. You sand it a bit for the texture to show up like it does in the photo. It's not really a very creative card, with purchased paper flowers and self-stick shiny bits -- oh, and 2 measy letters in calligraphy!
I'm runny like a chicken with its head cut off these days, between the parents association and selling the calligraphy calendars. I'm doing a sale in Avignon tomorrow and then a bigger craft sale in Toulon on the weekend. That explains why the posts are a little scarce these days ...

Meme si nous avons participé au cadeau collectif qui a été organisé, je voulais faire un petit quelque chose en plus pour Françoise, qui part à la retraite. L'autre jour, j'avais remarqué un bouquin sur le "scrap en feutrine" sur mes étagères, et l'idée est partie de là.
J'ai d'abord réalisé le sac, avec l'intention de mettre de la mousse verte pour compositions florales au fond. Ensuite, j'ai repris les memes couleurs pour la carte et puis, au moment d'acheter les fleurs, j'ai choisi des tons que l'on retrouve dans les couleurs de feutrine.
Meme si je n'ai pas les dons de ma maman pour les compositions florales, l'effet final ne m'a pas déplu! (Cliquez sur les images pour les agrandir.)
For Françoise's retirement party, we all chipped in for a voyage, but I wanted to add a little something personal. The other day, I noticed a book on "scrapbooking with felt" on my bookshelves, and that's where the inspiration came from.
I first sewed the little bag with the idea of putting a piece of oasis in the bottom of it for the flowers. Next, I made the card to match. And when it was time to buy the flowers, I did my best to match the tones of some of the felt pieces.
Unfortunately, I'm not gifted (like my Mom) for flower arranging, but the end effect was ... satisfactory! (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)
Quand j'ai fait la calligraphie de ce tampon, j'avoue que j'étais assez satisfaite du deuxième "L" dans le mot "cueillez". Sur cette carte, destinée à mon amie Irene pour son anniversaire, j'ai mis le "L" en valeur en le tamponnant une deuxième fois, le découpant et le collant sur l'image de base avec des mousses 3D. Sur la carte, on voit beaucoup mieux la différence des deux couleurs de papiers sur lesquels j'ai tamponné le "L" -- cela se voit moins sur la photo.

I have to admit to being relatively satisfied with the second L in the word "cueillez" when I did the calligraphy for this stamp. This card (meant for my friend Irene for her birthday) features the "L" stamped a second time on blue paper, cut out and put in place with 3D foam stickers. The difference in colour of the paper doesn't show up well in the photo, but it does on the "real thing".

Bonjour ! Bonne rentrée à toutes ! Ma fille est rentrée au lycée hier ... ça fait un drôle d'effet de la voir ... eh, ben ... de la voir SI GRANDE ! Mais, je m'adapterai - même très vite, car mon emploi de temps ne me laissera pas le temps de regretter la petite enfance.
L'inspiration de cette carte vient de Heather (voir la sienne ici). Le "double ourlet déchiré" m'a beaucoup plu, donc je l'ai utilisé sur une carte avec mes tampons "ROSES". J'aime beaucoup tout ce que fait Heather ; je me rends sur son blog régulièrement.

Happy Back-To-School to all of you! I can't believe that my little girl is now in "lycée" (that means a change of school, from "junior high" to "senior high". It's a big move for her, because she's left the school that she was in since kindergarten!). But, given my new-and-very-dense timetable, I'll have no time for mourning or regretting the time gone by.
It was Heather who inspired this card. (See her version here.) I really liked the "double ripped hem", which I've used on this card, along with my rose stamps. Heather's work always gets my imagination going - I visit her blog quite regularly.

Le maire de notre village, Mr BUIS, est décédé jeudi dernier. C'était un gentil monsieur, qui savait écouter ses administrés. Cette photo était sur l'avis du décès. Derrière le maire, on voit l'église de Jonquerettes et même on distingue le mont Ventoux dans les brumes en arrière plan.
Voici la carte faite à l'intention de sa famille, sur une demie feuille A4. Le fond de la carte est tamponné avec un encreur Craft Blanc de Stampin' Up! La photo est montée sur plusieurs couches de cardstock. Les feuilles tombant sont découpées et collées avec de la mousse 3D (dimensionnels). C'est simple, mais il y a tout un symbolisme dans les feuilles qui tombent ...
Our village mayor, Mr. Buis, passed away last Thursday. He was a nice man, dedicated to Jonquerettes and its inhabitants. In the photo, you can see the church and - if you look really hard - you can make out the Mount Ventoux in the background mist.
This is the card I made for his family. The photo is layered on several pieces of cardstock. I stamped the leaves on the card base with a SU! white craft ink. The falling leaves are affixed with 3D foam (Stampin' Dimensionals). It's a simple card, but the symbolism is very present ...
Bonjour ! La gentille dame qui travaille chez moi va me quitter et je voulais lui présenter son dernier chèque, avec une lettre, dans une pochette. Voici ce que j'ai fait avec une feuille A4 et des chutes. Très simple, très rapide ... et nettement plus jolie qu'une banale enveloppe blanche ! Le tampon carré est de chez Fiskars à Artchoum. Dommage, mais ce n'est pas le même taille/forme que ma perforatrice carrée festonnée de chez Stampin' Up!

Hello! The very nice lady who has been working for me at home is going to leave. I wanted to put her last cheque in a gift-card, so this is what I came up with, using a piece of A4 cardstock and scraps. It was fast and simple - and much nicer than a plain white envelope. The square stamp is from Fiskars, available at Artchoum. What a shame, the size/shape of the stamp doesn't match my square scallop SU! punch.

Bonjour - Si vous aussi, vous avez repris le travail aujourd'hui, j'espère que vos vacances étaient bonnes et que vous avez fait la pleine d'énergie ! Pour ma part, les vacances sont rarement reposantes, mais cette année nous avons vraiment profité de la maison à la campagne ... c'était génial !
Voilà, je reprends donc mes activités diverses et variées ... et ma "rentrée" a commencé avec un sachet de lavande pour l'anniversaire d'une amie. J'avais envie de tamponner sur du tissu. (Le tissu est un vieux drap en lin de chez mes beaux-parents.) Comme un sachet de lavande ne sera jamais lavé, cela m'était égal d'utiliser une encre "non-permanante" (ici, une encre couleur "lavande" de SU! et une DISTRESS couleur antique lin).
J'ai repris les mêmes couleurs pour faire la petite carte, qui est attachée au sachet avec un fil de (faux) lin. Les tampons sont du set "carte postale" de chez Stampin' Up!.
Si vous avez envie d'en créer : commencez avec un carré de lin de 22 cm de coté -- cela demande une certaine quantité de lavande pour le remplir, ce qui ne représente pas de problème chez moi car mon cher époux nous a planté une vingtaine de pieds de lavande! Ensuite : tamponnez, pliez le carré en 2, faites un ourlet en haut, cousez le coté long et le bas, remplissez avec la lavande, fermez et nouez. C'est simple comme bonjour !

Hello! If you, too, are just back from vacation, I hope you had a wonderful time off and that you're attacking autumn with lots of punch and energy! Vacation is rarely relaxing for me, but this year we were able to spend quality time with friends and family at our country house -- it was wonderful!
So, now I'm back to my many-and-varied occupations. To start off the season, I've made a stamped lavender sachet for a friend's birthday. I used an old linen sheet that was from my mother-in-law's trousseau. Since a lavender sachet will never be washed, I didn't mind that the ink I used wasn't permanent. (I've used a lavender tone from SU! and antique linen Distress ink.) I then used the same colours for the card, which is attached to the sachet with a linen-type thread.
The stamps are from Stampin' Up! (Carte postale).
If you'd like to try making one, start with a 22 cm square piece of fabric. That makes a "healthy" sized sachet, so you'll need a fair quantity of lavender -- which is not a problem for me, as Hubby has planed about 20 lavender plants! Stamp your fabric, fold it in half, hem the top edge, sew the side and bottom edges, fill it with lavender and then close it. Easy as pie!

Bonjour ! Aujourd'hui j'ai eu très exactement 25 minutes pour faire une carte de remerciement, avant que les menuisiers n'arrivent. J'aime bien me donner des petits défis - aujourd'hui j'ai sorti le papier imprimé en me disant que j'allais faire la carte avec ce papier comme "ancre" (les idées partent de là). Pour la base de la carte, j'ai utilisé un papier uni couleur ivoire. Ensuite, le même papier a été coloré avec de l'encre Distress en flacon. Viennent par-dessus le papier imprimé avec un ruban de chez Stampin' Up! et une petite étiquette sur laquelle j'ai calligraphié "Merci" avec la même encre Distress.
Pour tout vous dire, j'aurai aimé poster une petite vidéo de la calligraphie, car la méthode utilisée pour calligraphier avec cette encre est loin d'être très "catholique" ... Ce sera pour un autre jour. J'ai imprimé le fond de l'étiquette avec la plus petite rose de mon jeu de tampons ROSES. Deux brillants de chez SU! donnent un petit peu de "glitz" à la carte. Sobre, mais le message y est ! A bientôt !
Hello! This afternoon I had exactly 25 minutes to do up a THANK YOU card before the carpenters arrived. I like to set out little challenges for myself. Today, I got out the printed paper and decided to build the card around it. The card itself is plain ivory paper. The next layer is the same paper, onto which I applied the Distress ink. Next came the printed paper with a Stampin' Up! ribbon and a little tag that has the word "merci" written on it.
In fact, I would have liked to have shown you a video of the calligraphy, because I used the same Distress Ink to do it -- and I could hardly call my method very "orthodox"! Anyway, the carpenters were soon to arrive, so the video will have to be for another day. I used the smallest of my rose stamps to decorate the background of the tag and then added 2 rhinestones for a bit of glitz. A not-overly-fancy card, but at least the recipients will get the message! C'est avec une emporte-pièce SU! que j'ai fait les coins (comme pour les photos) qui tiennent les bons en place sur le devant de la carte. Hello all. This time, it's a gift for my teenage god-daughter. You just never know what to buy them at that age, so I played it safe and bought her iTunes gift certificates. I used the SU! corner punch for the bits that hold the certificates in place on the front of the card. Didn't wrack my brain for colours, either -- just used the same colours (or as close as I could come) as on the front of the iTunes packaging. Ce ne sont pas mes couleurs habituelles, mais quand vous verrez les "cadeaux de base", vous comprendrez mieux mon choix. Tout a commencé avec deux crèmes achetées en parfumerie ... puis j'ai embelli le panier, fait les roses avant d'y ajouter des cartes à décorer dans une pochette en plastique et une encre DISTRESS dans le ton "worn lipstick" (qui veut dire rouge à lèvres usé ou porté). Je vous montre les différents éléments ci-dessous ; cliquez sur les photos pour les agrandir. La carte et l'enveloppe sont assorties, bien sûr.
J'ai voulu utiliser les nouvelles emporte-pièces SU! (je ne souviens plus du nom et je n'ai pas mon catalogue ici). Mon rectangle de base (couleur aubergine) mesurait 9,6 x 14,1 (de mémoire). Le résultat est correcte, je dirai.
These aren't colours that I work with, as a general rule, but you'll understand how this came to be when you see the packaging of the hand and foot creams in the photos below. I really liked the flowers on the boxes, and so I decorated the basket to match, then made the roses and I found some blank cards that match in my "stock". I even added a Distress ink : worn lipstick -- it's just perfect! I made a card and an envelope to go with it all. I'm putting photos of the bits and pieces under this text. For the card, I wanted to use the last punches purchased from SU! (I don't remember the name of them). The eggplant coloured rectangle measured 9.6 x 14.1 to start with, and it worked out well.
Il me fallait une carte pour une naissance -- une fille, vous l'avez deviné ! En cherchant dans mes tiroirs, j'ai retrouvé cette photo d'un tableau en point de croix que j'avais fait quand Jessica est née (panneau 1). Avec un bout de papier coloré à la mousse à raser et des tampons de SU!, le 2° panneau est né ; pour le troisième, j'ai glissé nos bons voeux dans une petite pochette déchirée. Et voilà !
Friends of ours had a baby girl recently, so I had to come up with a pink card. While going through my supplies, I found this photo of a cross-stitch piece that I had done for Jessica when she was born. (1st panel - done!). A bit of shaving-cream-coloured paper and some SU! stamps make the middle panel; a ripped pocket into which I slid our best wishes constitute the 3rd panel. Ta da!
Cette carte est hyper-méga-chargée ... je ne peux pas nier mes origines ! Mais, le printemps tarde à pointer son nez au Canada, donc j'envoie le chant des petits oiseaux et quelques fleurs à ma mère pour la faire patienter encore un peu. Um, la fête des mères était le 8 mai au Canada -- mais elle me connaît maintenant. Si jamais elle recevait une carte de ma part à l'heure, elle risquerait une crise cardiaque !!
I probably overdid it a bit with this card, but since Spring seems to be taking so long to arrive in the "Great White North", I thought I'd send Mom some (paper) flowers and a small bird from the Sunny South of France. Of course, I'm posting this rather late (I'm on the French calendar, not the Canadian one). She'd probably have a heart attack if ever I sent her something that actually arrived on time!!
