Meme si nous avons participé au cadeau collectif qui a été organisé, je voulais faire un petit quelque chose en plus pour Françoise, qui part à la retraite. L'autre jour, j'avais remarqué un bouquin sur le "scrap en feutrine" sur mes étagères, et l'idée est partie de là.
J'ai d'abord réalisé le sac, avec l'intention de mettre de la mousse verte pour compositions florales au fond. Ensuite, j'ai repris les memes couleurs pour la carte et puis, au moment d'acheter les fleurs, j'ai choisi des tons que l'on retrouve dans les couleurs de feutrine.
Meme si je n'ai pas les dons de ma maman pour les compositions florales, l'effet final ne m'a pas déplu! (Cliquez sur les images pour les agrandir.)
For Françoise's retirement party, we all chipped in for a voyage, but I wanted to add a little something personal. The other day, I noticed a book on "scrapbooking with felt" on my bookshelves, and that's where the inspiration came from.
I first sewed the little bag with the idea of putting a piece of oasis in the bottom of it for the flowers. Next, I made the card to match. And when it was time to buy the flowers, I did my best to match the tones of some of the felt pieces.
Unfortunately, I'm not gifted (like my Mom) for flower arranging, but the end effect was ... satisfactory! (Click on the photos to enlarge them.)
Bonjour ! La gentille dame qui travaille chez moi va me quitter et je voulais lui présenter son dernier chèque, avec une lettre, dans une pochette. Voici ce que j'ai fait avec une feuille A4 et des chutes. Très simple, très rapide ... et nettement plus jolie qu'une banale enveloppe blanche ! Le tampon carré est de chez Fiskars à Artchoum. Dommage, mais ce n'est pas le même taille/forme que ma perforatrice carrée festonnée de chez Stampin' Up!

Hello! The very nice lady who has been working for me at home is going to leave. I wanted to put her last cheque in a gift-card, so this is what I came up with, using a piece of A4 cardstock and scraps. It was fast and simple - and much nicer than a plain white envelope. The square stamp is from Fiskars, available at Artchoum. What a shame, the size/shape of the stamp doesn't match my square scallop SU! punch.

Bonjour - Si vous aussi, vous avez repris le travail aujourd'hui, j'espère que vos vacances étaient bonnes et que vous avez fait la pleine d'énergie ! Pour ma part, les vacances sont rarement reposantes, mais cette année nous avons vraiment profité de la maison à la campagne ... c'était génial !
Voilà, je reprends donc mes activités diverses et variées ... et ma "rentrée" a commencé avec un sachet de lavande pour l'anniversaire d'une amie. J'avais envie de tamponner sur du tissu. (Le tissu est un vieux drap en lin de chez mes beaux-parents.) Comme un sachet de lavande ne sera jamais lavé, cela m'était égal d'utiliser une encre "non-permanante" (ici, une encre couleur "lavande" de SU! et une DISTRESS couleur antique lin).
J'ai repris les mêmes couleurs pour faire la petite carte, qui est attachée au sachet avec un fil de (faux) lin. Les tampons sont du set "carte postale" de chez Stampin' Up!.
Si vous avez envie d'en créer : commencez avec un carré de lin de 22 cm de coté -- cela demande une certaine quantité de lavande pour le remplir, ce qui ne représente pas de problème chez moi car mon cher époux nous a planté une vingtaine de pieds de lavande! Ensuite : tamponnez, pliez le carré en 2, faites un ourlet en haut, cousez le coté long et le bas, remplissez avec la lavande, fermez et nouez. C'est simple comme bonjour !

Hello! If you, too, are just back from vacation, I hope you had a wonderful time off and that you're attacking autumn with lots of punch and energy! Vacation is rarely relaxing for me, but this year we were able to spend quality time with friends and family at our country house -- it was wonderful!
So, now I'm back to my many-and-varied occupations. To start off the season, I've made a stamped lavender sachet for a friend's birthday. I used an old linen sheet that was from my mother-in-law's trousseau. Since a lavender sachet will never be washed, I didn't mind that the ink I used wasn't permanent. (I've used a lavender tone from SU! and antique linen Distress ink.) I then used the same colours for the card, which is attached to the sachet with a linen-type thread.
The stamps are from Stampin' Up! (Carte postale).
If you'd like to try making one, start with a 22 cm square piece of fabric. That makes a "healthy" sized sachet, so you'll need a fair quantity of lavender -- which is not a problem for me, as Hubby has planed about 20 lavender plants! Stamp your fabric, fold it in half, hem the top edge, sew the side and bottom edges, fill it with lavender and then close it. Easy as pie!

On ne sait jamais ce qu'il leur fera plaisir à leur âge, donc j'ai joué "la sécurité" en lui prenant des bons d'achat pour iTunes ! C'est avec une emporte-pièce SU! que j'ai fait les coins (comme pour les photos) qui tiennent les bons en place sur le devant de la carte. Hello all. This time, it's a gift for my teenage god-daughter. You just never know what to buy them at that age, so I played it safe and bought her iTunes gift certificates. I used the SU! corner punch for the bits that hold the certificates in place on the front of the card. Didn't wrack my brain for colours, either -- just used the same colours (or as close as I could come) as on the front of the iTunes packaging. Ce ne sont pas mes couleurs habituelles, mais quand vous verrez les "cadeaux de base", vous comprendrez mieux mon choix. Tout a commencé avec deux crèmes achetées en parfumerie ... puis j'ai embelli le panier, fait les roses avant d'y ajouter des cartes à décorer dans une pochette en plastique et une encre DISTRESS dans le ton "worn lipstick" (qui veut dire rouge à lèvres usé ou porté). Je vous montre les différents éléments ci-dessous ; cliquez sur les photos pour les agrandir. La carte et l'enveloppe sont assorties, bien sûr.
J'ai voulu utiliser les nouvelles emporte-pièces SU! (je ne souviens plus du nom et je n'ai pas mon catalogue ici). Mon rectangle de base (couleur aubergine) mesurait 9,6 x 14,1 (de mémoire). Le résultat est correcte, je dirai.
These aren't colours that I work with, as a general rule, but you'll understand how this came to be when you see the packaging of the hand and foot creams in the photos below. I really liked the flowers on the boxes, and so I decorated the basket to match, then made the roses and I found some blank cards that match in my "stock". I even added a Distress ink : worn lipstick -- it's just perfect! I made a card and an envelope to go with it all. I'm putting photos of the bits and pieces under this text. For the card, I wanted to use the last punches purchased from SU! (I don't remember the name of them). The eggplant coloured rectangle measured 9.6 x 14.1 to start with, and it worked out well.
... des roses du marché du village ! Ne sont-elles pas superbes ? Nous les avons offertes à nos cousins (avec qui nous avons passé un très bel après-midi) dans un pot décoré, avec une branche comportant le petit mot et un papillon coloré.
I bought these roses this morning at our local Sunday-morning market. Aren't they beautiful? I stuck the message onto a branch, added a colourful butterfly, put the roses into the decorated pot and voilà, a hostess gift for our cousins, with whom we spent a lovely afternoon.
Je ne peux pas partager l'adresse avec vous, car c'est TOP SECRET, mais il y a un certain établissement d'hôtellerie absolument génial et sans égal dans la capitale ... l'accueil est très chaleureux, les lieux somptueux, toutes les prestations sont parfaites ... et les petit-déjeuners sont très sympathiques. L'atelier "ROSES" du samedi dernier était un véritable bonheur à animer. J'espère simplement que les participantes ont ressenti autant de plaisir que moi ! Voici les trois cartes qu'elles ont réalisées, ainsi que le coffre dans lequel les cartes sont présentées.
I really had fun doing the ROSES workshop last week. I just hope that the participants enjoyed themselves as much as I did! Above, photos of the 3 cards the ladies made, as well as the "purse" they were presented in.
Quand ma mère est venue en mars, elle nous a apporté un "quilt" qu'elle a dessiné et cousu cet hiver. Pour toute la piqûre à la main, elle s'est fait aider par ses voisines. (Je vous mettrai une photo du quilt sur ce blog un autre jour.) Pour remercier les dames qui ont participé au "quiltage" (j'invente des mots, là!), nous leur avons fabriqué des sachets de lavande -- lavande de notre jardin, roses en ruban faites de mes mains et des sachets fabriqués à partir du lin des anciens draps de mes beaux-parents. Le "A" (brodé avec ma machine à coudre) est pour Avignon, bien sûr !
My mother designed and made a quilt for us this past winter, that she brought with her in March. Some of her neighbours helped her with the hand-sewing. (I'll post a photo of the quilt another day.) To thank the ladies that participated in the quilting, we made them lavender sachets. The lavender is from our garden, I made the ribbon roses and the sachets are made out of old linen sheets belonging to my parents-in-law. The "A" on the sachets (embroidered with my sewing machine) stands for "Avignon", of course!

Pendant son séjour ici, elle a attaqué nos chaises de la salle à manger ... voici le résultat. Elle est repartie au Canada hier, et j'ai du coller le galon seule-comme-une-grande aujourd'hui,. Il m'en restait quelques dizaines de centimètres ... vous verrez ce que j'ai fait avec un petit bout du galon sur le sachet-du-sachet (!) de lavande, ci-dessous. Jessica l'amènera en Espagne ce week-end car il fera partie du cadeau qu'elle offrira à ses hôtes.
As I've already said, my mother is a person of many talents -- one of them being upholstering. While she was here, she re-did our dining room chairs. She left to go back home yesterday, and so I had to glue the trim onto them all by myself this afternoon -- I guess I managed to get it straight enough. I had just slightly overestimated the quantity I needed, and you'll see below what I did with a little bit of my leftover trim -- I used it on the packaging of a lavender sachet that Jessica will take to Spain with her this week-end, as part of her gift to her hosts.

(D'ailleurs, j'ai souvent dit que si j'ai le moindre brin de talent artistique, c'est grâce à elle!) Ce matin, nous sommes allées acheter un petit bouquet, très banal, de fleurs mélangées. Voici ce qu'elle en a fait ! Ca m'épate ... faut que j'apprenne à faire ça ! (Le bouquet était pour une amie, qui nous a fait un déjeuner royal aujourd'hui ! Merci, Jeepy !)
If you don't know my mother, you have no way of knowing that she's pretty talented in a lot of ways ... including flower arrangements! (I've often said that if I have the least bit of artistic talent, it's all thanks to her!) This morning, we went to buy a very boring bouquet of mixed flowers, and this is what she managed to do with it. I really must learn how to do that! (The bouquet was for a friend, who treated us to a fabulous lunch today! Thanks, Jeepy!)

Gift-wrapping time!
This is my first present of the season: a bottle of champagne with linen tea-towels and matching cards, wrapped in kraft and presented in a wicker basket ... then draped with florists' crystal, finished with a kraft rose, bits of raphia and a little brown bird.
Voici mon premier cadeau de la saison : une bouteille de champagne avec des torchons en lin et des cartes assorties, emballés dans du papier kraft puis présentés dans un panier en osier ... le tout entouré du papier fleuriste avec une rose en kraft, des bouts de raphia et un petit oiseau marron.
(and yes! the geese are getting fat ... yum!)

Projet en lin n° 4 : un ensemble de sachets de lavande qui sera offert à la maman de la correspondante espagnole de ma fille. J'ai fait la carte postale que j'utilise pour les étiquettes il y a des années. Elles étaient en noir et blanc à l'époque - maintenant, avec la magie des logiciels de retouche, je les imprime en petit format, couleur sépia.
Linen project #4: a lavender sachet gift set, that is destined to be a gift to our Spanish exchange student's mom. I made the black & white post card that I use for the tag years ago. Now, with a little photo software manipulation, I can print them off just the right size, and in Sepia for that "vintage" look.
3° projet dans la série "LIN" : le sac-cadeau. Très simplement décoré avec des chiffres en "chipboard" et un morceau de lin, collés sur un carré de papier translucide. Un noeud tient le sac fermé.
This is my 3rd "LINEN" project : a gift bag. It's very simply decorated, with chipboard numbers & a piece of linen glued onto a translucid scrap of paper. A box holds the bag closed.

Le petit cadeau "en plus" pour mon chéri : un gel douche parfumé (de chez JUST, vendu par ma copine Nadège). Emballage d'amoureux rapide, assorti au produit. Un gros noeud fait avec le joli ruban rayé de chez Stampin' Up! (que je récupère, bien évidemment !).
An extra little present for my honey: a scented shower gel from JUST (Swiss products that my friend Nadège sells). The quick "lovers-wrap" matches the present. I tied a big bow with the striped ribbon from Stampin' Up! (that I"ve recuperated and will re-cycle, of course!).
